One Short of a Full House

This weekend Sarah is away at a Women's Retreat and I stayed at home with our four children.  Anytime I have had the opportunity to stay at home, I have gained greater respect for my wife and all that she does for our family.  We have had fun together, but it really is a lot of work to manage the moods of four children, the feeding of four children, the interests of four children, and the attention needs of four children.  I typically try to stay pretty busy with the kids when we can, this typically takes care of three of those items above, and I will have to confess the kids do not eat as well (in both senses of the phrase) when I am in charge.  There are also so many other things that Sarah does that I can't figure out where she would find the time for: cleaning, baking, laundry, schoolwork, canning, and hours and hours of reading to the kids.  She is also the master of meal times and coordinating outfits; I one the other hand make sure the kids are clothed and fed, but I don't make any promises about what times we might eat and whether everyone is not going to clash when they are eating.

After 24 hours, I think that almost anyone can manage, but it is a lot more to grasp when it rolls into the next 24 hours etc.  We all really miss, love and appreciate Sarah, we are glad when she get an opportunity to break the routine, but we are all so excited when she returns (me most of all).
